This past Sunday, November 14, musicians of Triangle Youth String Orchestra (TYSO) and Triangle Youth String Sinfonia (TYSS) had a splendid performance at the Cary Arts Center.
Triangle Youth String Orchestra, with Myriah Luke as the conductor and Meaghan Clayton as the Assistant Conductor, started off the afternoon. Will, a TYSO violinist, introduced the first piece of the concert, “Conquistador” by Deborah Baker Monday, which was also their most challenging piece. TYSO then performed “Polovetzian Dance” by Alexander Borodin, “Minuet” by Leopold Mozart (arranged by Keegan Clayton, a TYSO musician) and “Allegro from ‘Concerto for Two Trumpets” by Antonio Vivaldi.
Following TYSO’s performance, Triangle Youth String Sinfonia, conducted by Matthew Holt, performed “Two Scenes from the Hollow” by Kirt Mosier, “Dark Island” arranged by Brad Pfeil, and “Symphony No. 5, Choral and Allegro maestoso” by Felix Mendelssohn.” Sinfonia musicians, ranging from 7th to 12th grade, practiced really hard to deliver this stunning performance.
Special thanks to everyone who came out to support our String Orchestras, and as always, we look forward to seeing you again!
