Throughout May and June, our United Strings of Color (Kennedy Mitchell and CT Thomas, violins, Sterling Elliott, viola; Lexi Etienne, cello) have been commemorating black lives lost through music and poetry in a series of Violin Vigils. These have taken place at a variety of locations including St. Ambrose Episcopal Church, the Martin Luther King Memorial Gardens, and the Stephenson Amphitheater at Raleigh Little Theatre.
If you missed our previous vigils, be sure to add the United Strings of Color’s Juneteenth (June 19th) performance to your calendar. The quartet and guest poets will perform from 1:15-2:00pm as part of the Juneteenth Celebration taking place at Dorothea Dix from 1:00-5:00. Join our musicians at Harvey Hill at Dix Park (693 Palmer Drive, Raleigh 27603) to celebrate Juneteenth and commemorate black lives lost.
