Calling all flautists, oboists, and horn players of the Triangle Youth Philharmonic!  Auditions for this year’s TYP Woodwind Quintet are taking place on September 14th, and we sincerely hope you consider auditioning.
As a Philharmonic Association chamber ensemble, the TYP Woodwind Quintet has had opportunities to perform at all sorts of venues for a wide variety of events. To name a few, the quintet premiered a piece by Michael Daugherty at the Cary Arts Center, they played for doctors at the UNC Rex Hospital, and they performed for children at the Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh.
The quintet plays exciting, challenging repertoire ranging from the How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack to Gershwin classics.
Need another reason to sign up for an audition? How about this: the quintet is coached by the assistant principal flautist of the NC Symphony, Mary Boone!
For the virtual audition, you will play the TYP excerpts and skill sheets (the exact same ones you’ve used to audition for TYP) and an optional supplementary solo of your choice.
