The Philharmonic Association Board of Directors is pleased announce the selection of Sarah Whitney as the next Executive Director of the Philharmonic Association following a national search. Sarah joins us with more than 15 years of experience working in the arts nonprofit sector. She brings a wonderful background in music to her new role, coupled with extensive experience in operations, finance, fundraising and education.
 
Prior to accepting this position, Sarah was an Assistant Director of Business and Finance at Duke University. Her background includes serving as Director of Operations for The School for Strings and Curriculum Developer for the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall, both in New York, NY. Originally from Syracuse, NY, Sarah has also worked as a freelance musician and a public school music teacher.
 
Sarah started playing violin at age 3 and was immersed in classical and jazz music by her parents, both of whom were music educators. She has many fond memories of her time as a member of the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra and has a deep appreciation for the importance of quality music education in the lives of young musicians.
 
According to Sarah, she is “excited for the opportunity to use my experience and enthusiasm to build upon the strong foundation of the Philharmonic Association and further its mission and goals.”
