Our youth musicians may have been unable to rehearse in person for three months, but that did not stop them from continuing to learn great classical and jazz music.  The members of our Triangle Youth Philharmonic (TYP) continued to rehearse weekly, both individually and over Zoom.

Despite the challenges presented this season, TYP was able to put together a virtual performance of Dimitri Shostakovich’s Festive Overture.  This performance has been uploaded to YouTube where it can be enjoyed by anyone looking for a quality performance of a great classical piece.

As the musicians express at the beginning of the video, music is more important now than ever because it connects people, even over great distances.  The Philharmonic Association is so proud of our TYP musicians for adapting to new ways of rehearsing and for continuing to perform great music.  We also want to express appreciation for the hours upon hours of work that TYP  Conductor David Glover has put into the making of this video.  We hope that all who watch TYP’s virtual performance are inspired by the dedication and talent of our young musicians and staff!
