Featuring live music by the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, Theatre Raleigh concludes its 2019-2020 Family Series with Bud, Not Buddy! This play is adapted from Christopher Paul Curtis’s acclaimed Newbery Medal-winning novel and will play March 13-29 at the Kennedy Theatre in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh. Set in Flint, Michigan in 1936, Bud, Not Buddy tells the story of Bud, a ten-year old who is sure about two things: he wants to find his father and he is not called Buddy. With only one clue, a flyer advertising Herman E. Calloway and his band, and his trusty suitcase in tow, Bud sets off an epic journey of self discovery, set to the soulful sounds of jazz. This touching play incorporates a number of classic jazz pieces, played live on-stage by the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble. Run-time: 75 minutes (No intermission) Recommended: Ages 9+ (All are welcome) Ticket information on Theatre Raleigh Website
