The Philharmonic Association’s Fall Jazz Concert on November 4th from 4:00-6:00 at the Cary Arts Center features all three of the PA’s talented jazz ensembles: the Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, Triangle Youth Jazz Orchestra, and Triangle Youth Jazz Band.
TYJE Director Greg Gelb, says his program includes “a wonderful selection of big band music” that the ensemble and soloists play at a very high level. Gelb has chosen a program full of variety with music ranging ranging from “the cool west coast sounds of Billy Holman to the swinging arrangements Nelson Riddle and Billy May did for Ella, to the Essential Ellington repertoire and to the lively contemporary and funky sounds of John Clayton”.
TYJO will also be performing a variety of pieces including Cotton Tail, Blue Moon, El Abrazo, It’s Only a Paper Moon, and Hay Burner.
On TYJB’s program are the following pieces: Orange Colored Sky, Little Sunflower, and 88 Bassie Street.
With three exciting programs and three talented ensembles, the Fall Jazz Concert is sure to be an extraordinary performance from start to finish.
Tickets will be available at the box office one hour before the concert as well as online.
