Job Openings

Jazz Ensemble Instructors

The Philharmonic Association is seeking enthusiastic and energetic jazz educators to lead school-term ensembles within our multi-level big band program beginning in August 2017. Applicants should be prepared to teach jazz styles and improvisation to students of all backgrounds, select appropriate repertoire, prepare folders of sheet music in advance of rehearsals, be responsive to Philharmonic Association staff, volunteers, students and their families, and actively promote our program by reaching out to local private and school teachers.

The award-winning non-profit Philharmonic Association administers this jazz program funded by participation fees, grants and donations. Our program includes 3 auditioned big bands. Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble (a two-year Jazz at Lincoln Center Essentially Ellington finalist band) is led by Gregg Gelb. Triangle Youth Jazz Orchestra is led by Lisa Burn. Our third auditioned jazz group is Triangle Youth Jazz Band. Our introductory non-auditioned group is the Triangle Youth Jazz Lab. We are seeking two musicians to join our talented staff of jazz educators.

Applicants should send a résumé to ed@philharmonic-association.org. Finalists will be interviewed and conduct part of a summer session rehearsal.
