Chamber Music

Triangle Youth Chamber Ensembles

Members of our full orchestras are encouraged to form a standard chamber group such as a string trio or quartet and woodwind or brass quintet, and seek Triangle Youth Music sponsorship. A brief audition as an ensemble will be required of new groups. Membership in a Triangle Youth Music Chamber Ensemble is considered an honor and only groups that represent high artistic standards will be sponsored. Groups will receive up to two coaching sessions by area professional musicians approved by Triangle Youth Music.

Triangle Youth String Quartet

The Triangle Youth Music String Quartet performs repertoire for two violins, viola, and cello. This ensemble has a long tradition of musical service and has performed in competitions, at festivals, retirement communities, museums, and at numerous community events. Currently coached by Kurt Tseng, this ensemble continues to attain high levels of musicianship!

Triangle Youth Woodwind Quintet

The Triangle Youth Philharmonic Wind Quintet performs repertoire for clarinet, flute, horn, oboe, and bassoon. Our wind quintet has a long history of excellence and success and traveled to Cary’s Sister City, Le Touquet, France in 2014. The quintet’s coach is Mary Boone, Assistant Principal Flute with the North Carolina Symphony. The group was featured on Cary’s Marvelous Music Family Series Concert in a premiere of The Wolf and the Seven Little Kids composed by R. Michael Daugherty. They perform Discovery Concerts to help fulfill the Mission of the Triangle Youth Music.
