Triangle Youth Philharmonic String Quartet
The Triangle Youth Philharmonic String Quartet performed repertoire for two violins, viola, and cello. This ensemble included players from our most advanced full orchestra ready to take their ensemble skills to the next level.
The 2014-2015 Triangle Youth Philharmonic String Quartet offered an extraordinary amount of community service. They performed for the Festival in Motion at Walnut Creek Wetlands Center, played at four retirement communities, at Marbles Kids Museum and the North Carolina Museum of Art, before Cary Applause! Youth Theatre and North Carolina Opera performances, and for Wake Enterprises and Community Music School of Raleigh.
Philharmonic Association String Quartet
The Philharmonic Association String Quartet performs repertoire for two violins, viola, and cello. This ensemble has a long tradition of musical service and has performed in competitions, at festivals, retirement communities, museums, and at numerous community events. Currently coached by Karen Galvin, this ensemble continues to aspire towards and attain ever higher levels of musicianship.
The 2014-2015 Philharmonic Association String Quartet were finalists in the WDAV's Young Chamber Musicians Competition Powered by OrthoCarolina at Davidson College. They shared their talent with the community by performing before North Carolina Opera productions, in Raleigh Chamber Music Guild events, and to support the Kiwannis Club, Fine Arts League of Raleigh, and Catholic Charities.
Triangle Youth Symphony String Quartet
The Triangle Youth Symphony String Quartet rehearses and performs repertoire for two violins, viola, and cello. This ensemble is comprised of musicians who also participate in our intermediate level full orchestra. Coached by Maria and David Meyer, this ensemble provides opportunities for musicians to gain confidence bringing their individual voices together into a cohesive group performance.
Triangle Youth Philharmonic String Trio
The Triangle Youth Philharmonic String Trio performs repertoire for violin, viola, and cello. This chamber ensemble was formed during our 2015-2016 season and continued to evolve over the summer of 2016 and into our current season. This string trio is currently coached by Elizabeth Phelps and provides the opportunity for string players to gain confidence preparing their own parts and bringing them together in a small group.
Adagio Piano Trio
The Adagio Piano Trio rehearses and performs repertoire for violin, cello, and piano. This ensemble was formed during Summer 2016 and continues to evolve this season coached by cellist and Philharmonic Association board member Reginald Dematteis. The piano trio format provides opportunity for both pianist and string players to appreciate the challenges and intimacy of the trio experience.
